VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa, Interlaken

1856The Victoria Hotel, with its fine views of the Jungfrau massif, is purchased by Eduard Ruchti.
1864Top architects Friedrich Studer and Horace Edouard Davinet are commissioned to build a new Hotel VICTORIA.
1865After nine months’ construction, the new Hotel VICTORIA is opened.
1895Eduard Ruchti transforms his private business into a joint stock company. It takes over the adjacent Hotel JUNGFRAU (also built by Davinet in 1865). The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU company is formed.
1899The two buildings are linked by a dome-shaped middle tract, which today houses the luxury Tower Suite.
1939-1945During the Second World War the hotel is used by the Swiss Army Chief of Staff, General Henri Guisan, as his headquarters. Frequent visits and stays by the General.
1950Extensive renovation and modernization work is carried out during the 1950s.
1970Emanuel & Rosmarie Berger take over the management of the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU. The hotel undergoes regular modernization, to meet the needs of quality-conscious guests from throughout the world.
1990125th anniversary - the foundation stone is laid for the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU SPA
1992Opening of the spacious new reception area "Les Arcades". Inauguration of the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU SPA, a state-of-the-art fitness, wellness and beauty centre with swimming pool.
1997The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU takes over the PALACE LUZERN, cementing many years of close cooperation between two luxury establishments of "The Leading Hotels of the World."
1999Opening of "Côté Jardin" (617 square metres), a multi-functional congress centre. The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU now comprises 20 conference and seminar rooms (offering combined capacity for more than 400 guests).
2000The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU is named Switzerland’s "Hotel of the Year" by GaultMillau and the International Watch Company of Switzerland.
2001After six months' construction work, opening of the "Jungfrau Brasserie" (with carefully restored examples of late 19th century art) and the "La Pastateca."
2002-2004Continuous renovation of guest rooms. 212 light, airy living rooms and bedrooms, each of distinctive design and with great attention to detail.
2003Opening of the extended Spa - ESPA - with 16 state-of-the-art treatment rooms, ESPA Bar, Private Spa and 10 luxury rooms.
2009Opening of SENSAI SELECT SPA, the first of its kind worlswide - Featuring 6 treatment rooms. 
2010Opening of "Salon Davidoff" - Smoker's Lounge
